what i do

I’m a yoga teacher and yoga therapist.

I have been teaching yoga for 22 years and working in yoga therapy for 13 years. I trained in viniyoga, an approach which emphasises individual teaching and appropriate application of yoga to the person and their health. This approach is based on the teaching tradition of Prof. T Krishnamacharya, who is considered the father of modern Yoga, and his son TKV Desikachar.

I teach yoga which combines many aspects of yoga, asana (yoga postures), pranayama (breath practice), meditation and chant.

My yoga therapy work covers a specialism in yoga for back pain and back health, neurological conditions such as MS, yoga for mental wellbeing - dealing with anxiety, depression and foundation training in trauma sensitive yoga.

I’m a science graduate and I love reading about the developing scientific understanding of yoga. I also love the experiential and intensely personal qualities of yoga; qualities that are sometimes hard to convey through words. Yoga is a beautiful mix of the poetic, the creative, the sensory and the logical.

1 to 1 Yoga and Yoga as Therapy

1 to 1 Yoga is a way of learning and developing your Yoga which encourages you to work to your own ability and explore what Yoga offers as a personal and profound practice.

Yoga as therapy is a personalised way of working with specific health concerns using appropriate Yoga.

Health conditions benefit from combining techniques that involve both the mind and body and Yoga therapy considers the whole person in finding what is most suitable to restore health.
